I like a glass of wine now and then and have seen a number of red, white and rose wines in the Duty Free Shop in town. Which ones would your recommend and what is the average cost of a bottle?

Wine is very much a personal choice. For that reason I would not like to recommend anything in particular. It may be that other posters are better experts than I am. An average bottle of wine costs around El 35, but you could pay considrably more if you purchase from restaurants or hotels. There are several off-licences in Luxor. However, these are closed during the holy month of Ramadam, which this year falls for the whole month of September. Horus

The price of Omar Kyan (which is a better one than Obelisk) is normally 33.5 el per bottle from the offlicense. However, during Ramadam it is not normally available from Offlicences as they are all closed. The price therefore will be what one is prepared to pay for it (if one can get it) The same goes for Obelisk which is two or three pounds cheaper normally.
