I have been told that many of the restaurants visited by tourists are in what is sometimes referred to as "Little Britain Street" as there are several British businesses there. Where exactly is Little Britain Street and is it easy to reach on foot?

Little Britain Street is a name given to Rowda Sherif Street by English ex-pats, and it is doubtful if Taxi drivers would know it by this name. However, it is a small side street almost opposite the Sonesta Hotel. On the corner is the Kings Head Pub (upstairs) and beneath it is the Shushi Fish restaurant. On the opposite side, down slightly is Joans(?). It is an unstairs restaurant.

Next on the right hand side is Deans Bistro, and next to that the Lantern, on the left 20 yards further on is Snobs and opposite that is the Casablanca.

Whilst all these places have been classed under the general heading of restaurant, a couple of them may be considered more as cafes as they are rather small and do not offer a full dinner service. The only one I believe that is fully licensed by the Council is the The Lantern.

Posters are invited to make any positive comments about any of these places (and any others). What we do not encouage is complaints. We feel that complaints should be made direct to the establishment and is not the purpose of a forum to air complaints. All establishments listed by the forum Administration or discussed in posts are receommended. If for any reason, there are several similar complaints regarding any business, we will look into it, and if correct, we will ensure that they do not appear on any of our approved lists or recommendations in the future.

Complaints about any establishments can be made direct to the forum administrator or to any of the Moderators in a p.m. (Private Message) Horus :D

I have lived in Luxor for quite a number of years, and I can say that I have been regularly using the Lantern Restaurant in Little Britain Street ever since it opened. It is the ONLY restaurant in Luxor where one is guaranteed food of the highest quality in the most congenial atmosphere, but where one can seldom guarantee to get a seat on any day in the week.

I have got round this problem by booking a table, and like all of the best restaurants around the world, this is quite normal. It is without doubt the most popular restaurant in Luxor which serves the best food, and is often described as 'five star' by many of its customers.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

They cook brilliant steaks but Debbie's Lasagna is superb. The fish and chips are worthy of praise too.

I know that people are suprised that visitors seek out European food while on holiday but it is not just a familiar taste it is the whole atmosphere of the place and The Lantern is a really comfortable place to be and it is always full. There is nothing more depressing than eating in an empty restaurant and if it is empty then there is usually a reason for it.

Yes I have heard the steaks are very good there, although Ive never tried one. I do know what the lasagna is like, but I always seem to arrive just as the last portion has gone! The Red Sea bass is one of my favourites, done in the parsley sauce. It's about the only restaurant in town where I will eat the fish, as often they give you Nile Perch pretending to be Red Sea Bass and that really is not fair on the customer.

I was about to go in there for dinner this evening, but unfortunately I had so much work to do, I had to stay in and have beans on toast instead. Never mind, maybe tomorrow I might get down there. It's been a few days since I wore my red stilletos. My feet have been swelling up a bit and I'm not sure if I can still get them on.

Totally agree 100% . Like the new outfit Bean Raider, what have you done with Mrs. D. if that's not a rude question? :D

Some things never change. Bean Raider is unfortunately no longer with us but, in our opinion, the Lantern is still be best restaurant in Luxor.
